Medical Appointment

Last night was a rough night with Baby Girl.  Sometime around 11:00pm I put her in bed with us because she was crying off and on and wasn't getting any sleep.  In bed, she still cried pretty much all night and acted like she was in pain.  Robbie took over at 4 in the morning so I could get a little sleep and he basically just tried to play with her instead of trying to get her to sleep.  We had to be ready by 9 to leave for our medical appointment, which was no problem since we had been up for quite a while!

This area is much more Westernized than the cities we were in before, so everything is easier and much more comfortable than the other areas we have visited.  There are lots of adoptive families staying here and lots of foreigners in general.  Very common to run into Americans and have a conversation in English! Our medical appointment was pretty easy and not as bad as we imagined.  We waited for about an hour to get in the 1 of 3 lines for different check-ups.  The first doctor simply checked her ears and mouth.  Then we walked to the next room to have her head circumference, height and weight checked.  The last room was for the doctor who listened to her heart and lungs and checked out her arm and leg movements.  We had a little bit of a scare with her belly button today.  We have noticed that her belly button has not been cleaned but she cried when we touched it so we just left it alone.  Today, we thought we might have seen an umbilical hernia and the doctor spent a couple of minutes feeling around on it today. It looked "fleshly" when she cried with him and we thought it looked like her insides were coming out.  We had one of the moms in our group check it out and she thought it was fine, just not cleaned properly since birth maybe?  We went swimming for a good bit this afternoon and that "fleshly" looking thing fell right off when we changed her clothes.  PTL!!

Waiting for the doctor

The crazy office where parents just stand in front of a door waiting to walk in!

We also got the name of a good doctor here that we can taker Baby Girl to if she doesn't seem better tomorrow.  She was running a fever this morning, but has been in much better spirits after taking a little Motrin.  I think we are going to skip out on the sightseeing tomorrow and stay at the hotel to let her rest.  The pool was a great diversion for her!  At first she clung to me like she was scared to death, but eventually got used to the water and splashed and played!  The water was easier on my back for holding her and was easy entertainment! It's hot here though, so we might need to go earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.  I don't think her fair skin has ever seen the light of day!

Baby's first swim!  She fell asleep this time, then we got in a little later and she played!

After swimming we order Papa John's pizza so that we could go to bed early.  Baby Girl had some good play time on the floor and on the bed.  She can army crawl when she wants and can stand with support.  She feels like she is getting stronger already! PTL!  The girls decided to make a fort in the hotel room out of the curtains and a sitting chair!  I think they have learned some new poses from the Chinese girls!

We are humbled and grateful for all of your prayers as we journey! We have been so blessed by sweet friends who sent us encouraging letters to take with us and open each day!  Those words of encouragement and Scripture have strengthen our hearts each day! We are blessed and are praying for Our Great God to bless each of you today as well!
